It is situated in the Gulf of Finland and is about 6 km from Prangli island. Its only about 3,1 hectares and is covered with cobblestones, gravel and sand. This island was first mentioned in 1623. Keri´s lighthouse, was ordered to built in 1719 by Peter I, is known to be oldest in Gulf of Finland.

Prangli island is the biggest from the 3 islands and the population is around 100 people who live yearround on the island. It was first mentioned in 1387. Its very uniche nature and history gives memorable thrill to visitors. On the island there is a lighthouse, a beacon light, soviet-time borderguard towers, gas spring (they drilled back in the 70s looking for uranium but found natural gas and now people can barbeque their sausages on it for free), elemantary school, shop, first aid medical service, post office, national guesthouse, wooden church from 1848 with a graveyard and even barrelhouse called Black Hatch. Its extensive shores are low and stony on the west side and sandy on the east side. The highest point on the island is Kullamägi (“Golden hill” where in the old days pirates had dug up their gold) which is 10m above sea level. Prangli is 6km long and 2,5km wide. AEGNA ISLAND

Aegna Island (formerly called Wulf Island) is situated just next to Viimsi peninsula and is located on the northern part of Tallinn Bay. Its about 300 hectares with sandy beaches, beautiful nature and historical elements.

On the 16th century Aegna and the nearby area waters were frequently visited by pirates. From 1528 to 1566, the Tallinn town council had armed soldiers with boats on the island to keep pirates off. Until 1689 Aegna was subject to the Tallinn town council, but after that it belonged to Sweden. During the Great Northern War, when czarist army invaded Tallinn in 1710, Aegna was also captured by Russians.
In 1721, the island was made a quarantine center. In 1728 a cannon battery was placed on the island. In 1726, 3 families lived in the village; by 1770 there were just two actively used farms. By 1900 there were already seven farms on Aegna. The main activities of the islanders were fishing and seal hunting and of course farming their tiny properties.

During the First World War the whole population of the island was chased out of their homes and Aegna became a military zone. Powerful cannons were mounted, battalions constructed (including side buildings) and a narrow railway built (it still exist on the island).

At the beginning of the Soviet invasion in 1940, Estonians had to leave the island. For a while Germans felt cozy on the island but it ended soon, when the Soviet Army came to power again in 1944. Aegna was again a military zone, where civilians where not allowed. In the summer of 1961, seasonal regular boat traffic was opened and only those who had a permission to stay at the holiday center were permitted to visit the island. In 1975, the island was given to Tallinn and permits to enter the island were given to the residents of the city. 1960–1990 there were approximately 20 holiday centers on the island, which could accommodate up to 600 persons. Back at that time, Aegna received about 30,000 visitors per year, which is was the high-end of the island.
Aegna started to welcome all visitors in 1991.

RIB SAFARI FROM TALLINN HARBOUR TO ESTONIAN MARITIME MUSEUM AND SEAPLANE HARBOUR

In the course of years the Estonian Maritime Museum has acquired a number of historical ships whose value of memorial pieces is growing with the years. For years the Estonian Maritime Museum had been searching for a harbor for its growing museum fleet, which as a result was scattered. The idea and opportunity to develop a harbor for the museum arose in August 2003, when it became clear that the contract to keep the ice breaker „Suur Tõll“ at the Admiralty basin in the city center was about to expire. Part of the seaplane harbor belonged to the Ministry of the Environment and the ownership of the other part was under dispute. The seaplane harbor was in a very bad condition, but after some basic maintenance the first ship was ready to be transferred. The ice breaker „Suur Tõll“ arrived there on January 26th, 2004.
ICEBREAKER SUUR TÕLL  Built in 1914 in Stettin (Szczecin) by Vulkan-Werke A. G. Suur Tōll is the only pre-war steam ship of the Republic of Estonia remained up to now and, at the same time, the biggest icebreaker in the world preserved through two world wars. In 1914 the first home port of the ship was Tallinn. In March 1918, armed Finns captured this ship from Russian Bolsheviks by agreement with the ship officers of Estonian origin.
The submarine LEMBIT is one of the twin submarines of the Republic of Estonia launched in 1936 at Vickers-Armstrongs shipyard in England. Its twin sister “Kalev” perished in November of 1941.
The “Lembit” is the only survived warship of the pre-war Estonian Navy and in the Baltic countries. In 1992 the submarine became a branch of Estonian Maritime Museum. Estonia
is a maritime nation and as every country with a long coastline has to defend and safeguard its territorial waters.
Mine–ship Kalev was built at Kröger-Werft shipyard in Rendsburg, Germany in 1967. The ship was in the German Navy until February 1995 and was handed over to Estonian Navy after major repairs. At the beginning of 2004 the “Kalev” was discharged from service and transferred to the Estonian Maritime Museum.
